Students in the Software Development Coding program typically do the following:

  • Build secure full-stack web applications according to common design patterns, using popular programming languages
  • Consume and integrate third-party APIs in an application
  • Use modern JavaScript browser application frameworks
  • Deploy applications to the web using cloud-based hosting
  • Clearly document and present the projects they’ve built on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as the communication of technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Upon successful completion of Platt College’s Software Development Coding program, you can expect to qualify for entry-level positions and may obtain employment a variety of industries.

Many software developers work for firms that deal in computer systems design and related services firms or for software publishers. Some systems developers work in computer- and electronic product–manufacturing industries. Applications developers work in office environments, such as offices of insurance carriers or corporate headquarters.

In general, software development is a collaborative process, and developers work on teams with others who also contribute to designing, developing, and programming successful software. However, some developers telecommute (work away from the office).
