Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology
Start your new career as a Veterinary Technician
The Veterinary Technology Program at the Platt School of Medical Sciences is specifically designed to provide in-depth study and training necessary to gain entry-level employment in animal health care.
Veterinary Technicians perform many of the same tasks for veterinarians that nurses and other professionals perform for physicians.
These tasks generally include: general animal care; surgical assistance; medical treatments; laboratory tests, x-rays; anesthesia; radiology; and nursing and critical care.
Vet Techs typically work closely with Veterinarians in animal clinical health-care settings such as small or large animal hospitals or clinics.
As Vet Techs advance in their careers, many move to management and supervisory positions in animal health-care facilities and service companies.
Upon completion of Platt’s Vet Tech program, graduates of the program are awarded a Veterinary Technician Associates of Science degree.
Platt College’s School of Medical Sciences is pleased to announce that its Alhambra, Ontario, and Riverside campuses have received initial American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) accreditation for its Veterinary Technology Associate’s degree program.
AVMA accreditation is widely recognized as the gold-standard of accreditation for veterinary technology programs, and Platt College is proud to be amongst that elite group.
“This is a great honor and the result of hard work on the part of our students, faculty, and staff,” said David Liss, RVT, Program Director of the Alhambra campus. “I am very proud of Platt’s program and am ecstatic we have achieved this status within two years of launching the program. We are proud the AVMA has recognized our ongoing commitment to Veterinary Technology education, and look forward to achieving full accreditation for our program at the earliest possible date.”

What Our Graduates Say
Coming to Platt was important to me because it has helped me attain the necessary skills and experience I needed to be more marketable in the medical field.
What I liked best about attending Platt was the small class sizes. The instructors are able to give each student the attention needed to succeed. Every instructor I had at Platt was helpful and very understanding about the demands put on students in accelerated classes. I enjoyed attending Platt.
