AHC101- Introduction to Allied Health Careers

This introductory course provides an essential foundation for students beginning their course of study in the Allied Health field. Students will gain familiarity with key medical terminology and the use of prefixes, suffixes, and word roots to build their medical vocabulary. Students will also learn the basics of human anatomy and physiology, including the fundamental organization of the human body and its ten body systems. Key principles of professionalism, responsibilities, ethics, scope of practice, and legal implications of working in the healthcare field will be discussed. Finally, students will be introduced to current principles in HIPAA policies and regulations.
