DMS111-113 –Ultrasound Physics
Introduction to basic acoustic physical principles and the manner in which ultrasound waves react in human tissue. Emphasis is on ultrasound transmission in soft tissues, attenuation of sound energy, parameters affecting sound transmission and resolution of sound beams. Introduction to the various types of instrumentation, equipment design and applications. The mechanics of equipment design and applications. The mechanics of ultrasound production and display, various transducer designs and construction, quality assurance, bioeffects, imaging artifacts and Doppler flow analysis.
