MA151 - Nutrition
This course describes the impact of personal actions on lifelong wellness. Practical methods of assessing, maintaining, and improving behaviors reduce the risk of illness and disability. Emphasis on developing skills to make informed and responsible health decisions. The nature and role of carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, water, vitamins, and minerals in the human body are discussed. Energy relations and various controversies in nutrition examined, as well as relationships among nutrition, health, and disease. Students will also learn about patient education. Students will develop typing and 10-key skills along with word processing skills. (50 hours)
