Medical Assistants are integral to the day-to-day operations of a medical office. Medical Assistants provide critical clinical services to patients, usually in the back office and lab areas, helping to prepare patients for examinations and assisting physicians.

Duties of a medical assistant include:

• Take medical histories
• Record vital signs
• Assist the physician during examinations
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
• Prepare and administer medications

Medical Assistants are multi-talented Health Care industry professionals. These individuals possess a broad scope of knowledge and skills that makes them ideal professionals for any clinical care setting. Medical Assistants are skilled in performing routine clinical and administrative procedures for physician’s offices, outpatient clinics and other health care facilities. Some of these clinical skills include venipuncture, injections, physical therapy, and electrocardiography among others. Administrative duties include billing, coding, scheduling, transcription, and many more administrative duties. You will also receive on-the-job training at externship sites.
